Options Appraisal
"Options Appraisal" is applied using both qualitative and quantitative methods to determine cost, performance and environmental implications of different waste treatment, disposal, recycling, composting, reuse and waste prevention options. It forms the basis for waste management decisions and therefore operational planning and Municipal Waste Management Strategy development.
Paul is trained and experienced in the use of the WRATE Life Cycle Assessment software tool for the determination of environmental impacts. He also is trained and experienced in the use of the KAT model to determine collection costs and performance. Through using recognised industry tools with a detailed knowledge of their applications, a robust options appraisal can be formulated for decision making in service delivery.
The modelling tools are only one part of the options appraisal activity. A rigorous method of planning, agreement of criteria and evaluation techniques are all important to present a clear analysis and conclusion.
