We support numerous councils in reviewing services for the implementation of commercial / revenue generating activity linked to environmental services. Examples include: trade waste analysis and development; charged garden waste; 3rd party waste charges; development of trading arms / Teckal exempt companies, and; District heating initiatives.
We conduct competitor analyses, site suitability assessments (for infrastructure), benchmarking exercises and develop cost models to support feasibility studies and business cases. We also undertake business case reviews and have over 125 years of environmental consultancy experience among the team to provide excellent advice and guidance.

In 2019 we reviewed the existing trade waste collection service provided by the Council, and developed a high-level business case for increased customer base, improved service efficiencies and a broader service offering. Our review started with an ‘on the ground’ observation of the collection operation, where our staff accompanied a collection crew, giving us a unique insight to the service. We looked at the current and potential customer base, and identified opportunities to generate more income, including offering additional services to current customers, pricing structure, staffing and crew configuration and developing new service offerings. We developed a high-level business case to identify short, medium and longer term goals for the service.
